To cut 1/4″ dowel rods, I am cutting with this saw right now. As with any saw, the machine needs to be used slowly, but it has enough power for the job. It costs more than the one from Harbor Freight, but it looks like it’s well made.
After using the saw a few times, it stopped working. It ran, but the saw blade stopped. As it turns out, one of the belt pulleys broke. The set screw was almost out. Remove the belt and make sure both pulleys are aligned. The saw works again. I hope this was a manufacturing mistake and not a long-term problem.
