Most magnetic bit holders hold 1″ insert bits in place either by using the magnet alone or by using a small spring ring to hold them in place. In many cases, the hammering action of the driver will result in the screw becoming firmly attached to the bit. It’s always frustrating to try to remove the driver from a screw and have the bit remain in the screw after you’ve done so.
This bit holder is designed with a collar that securely holds the bit. It really does hold up. In addition, the collar itself has a slightly larger diameter than the shaft, which is the only drawback.
To release the bit, you must gently pull back on the collar of the horse’s collar. Once again, this is intended for small insert bits rather than the ball-locking type of insert bit.
It’s definitely a keeper, and it’s reasonably priced, as well.
