The white nylon/plastic rear handle/tank assembly of Stihl chainsaws are very hard to clean up and keep them looking good, only scraping away a layer of stained surface material will expose new white material beneath. It will stain again quite quickly if handled with dirty hands as scraping or even sanding leave the surface slightly roughened and porous.
