Because I primarily use cutting boards, I needed something smaller and more versatile than my heavy duty circular saw, which I had previously purchased. You can get perfect straight lines even without a track with this tool – just sit back and let it do the work. I use it for boards ranging in thickness from 6mm to 25mm, primarily plywood. There are no negatives, although a laser line light might be useful in some situations. Makita appears to be able to squeeze the most power out of 10.8V, and I haven’t experienced any ‘underpowering’. I wish I’d gotten one of these a few years ago when they were on sale.
