Buy Ingersoll Rand 170G Edge Series 3/8

I bought this to help me when I had to change the timing chain on a Jeep TJ. A Porter Cable 3.5 gallon 135 PSI pancake compressor is hooked up to it. I have it set to 90 PSI (which apparently delivers 2 SCFM). In order to remove and replace the bolts that hold on the fan shroud and the radiator, as well as the idler pulley, water pump pulley, tensioner pulley, timing chain cover, and cam sprocket, it worked like a champ. It was very, very easy to use in the small places where turning a ratchet would have been difficult.

In my mind, I didn’t think this tool would be able to remove the bolts with more torque. So, the crankshaft/vibration damper pulley bolt didn’t work out for you. It also didn’t have enough power to move the crankshaft when I was trying to align the timing sprockets for taking them off. But I didn’t expect it to do either of these things.

When it comes to the quality of the build, it’s not bad at all. It’s strong and heavy, with a rubberized grip on the end. The process of moving the trigger is simple and intuitive. This does not come with an air hose coupler. In its place is a plastic case that holds an anti-theft strip. To get at the back of that plastic housing, I had to break off the back. I found a plastic bolt that I unscrewed to get to the place where the coupler would be screwed into the housing.

I took the air hose off from time to time, put in a few drops of air tool oil, and put the hose back on. Before I put it away, I also added a few drops of oil and hit the trigger to make it move.

All in all, this driver was very useful. A lot more of me would have yelled and needed more time for the job if I didn’t have it.
