First of all, the shipping and delivery services were great. Early in January, I ordered this grinder, and it came on 4 January. This is how the story goes. My old 8″ grinder was broken and now has a bent shaft. I bought this grinder to replace it. An HP motor makes the Jet grinder more powerful than you’d expect from only having one. The Jet grinder weighs 54 pounds. It is very well made. Everything is made of metal and thick. It’s a bad thing that everything has been cast, but the cast form markings are still visible. Because you would think that at least the tool rest bearing surfaces would have been honed clean, but they are not. In general, I don’t like how the Jet shakes. A lot of other reviews talked about how smooth they were. This one isn’t smooth at all. I tried to attach this thing to a workbench, but the vibration was so bad that it would shake everything on the bench, making it hard to work on it. I put the old grinder with a bent shaft next to the new Jet and looked at the vibration. The old grinder had less vibration than the new Jet. Because they are made of metal, there is no machine work on them. It’s coming back. I would not use this grinder.
