The Shear, Box & Pan Brake, and Slip Roll are now all available as a package deal. When your shop space is limited, you can still benefit from the use of the 3 in 1 Shear Brake and Roll from JET, which allows you to perform all three jobs in one machine.
The Shear performs admirably. The stand is shaky [it had to be purchased separately, but it was necessary] and new hardware had to be purchased in order to assemble it securely. The brake is unsatisfactory, as it leaves a bead at the bend in the road. The roll is satisfactory, but there is no way to calibrate the adjustments from side to side other than by removing both bolts and precisely counting the number of turns. “Support” bars are completely ineffective and poorly constructed [it was evidently packed before the paint had a chance to dry and cure properly]. The Jet online “training” videos on YouTube are a complete waste of time, and the book only barely scratches the surface of how to use the device. My primary reason for purchasing the shear was to use it, so the overall experience was worthwhile for me, albeit disappointing. It was necessary to grind down one of the cast sides in order for the arms to turn properly. Because this item is so large and heavy, you should be prepared to do some of the final adjustments yourself, because returning it would be a nightmare. We were fortunate to have a motor winch to help us lift it onto the stand.
