I’m new here and found your forum during my research on metal cutting band saws. I’m not interested in an abrasive chop saw due to noise and mess, and am leaning band saw over a dry cut saw like the Evo or Skillsaw options as the bandsaws are quieter and cleaner. Jet HVBS-56 $599. The stand/base appears to be better, and identical, on the Wen, Klutch, and Grizzly.
I guess it’s time to figure out what all modifications need to be done. I’m not the best at doing things like replacing bandsaw blade tables and stuff. I remember seeing a website that showed ALL the necessary modifications to do to the HF bandsaw.
I did a part by part comparison of both on their web sites and they appear to be made at the same factory, with identical parts. If its identical to the one shown on the web site, and you can pick it up in person, I would seriously consider buying from HF. If you should need a replacement part, or worst case senerio need to return it for a refund, buying locally could have a big benefit.
