You can use the Makita Plunge Base Set (196094-2) with Makita’s 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless model XTR01Z and their 11/4 HP Corded model, RT0701C. It’s a good accessory for both of these small routers. The Plunge Base has a plunge capacity range of 0 in. to 1-3/8 in. This makes it easy to get into the work piece. In order to be even more precise, the fine depth adjustment has three pre-set depth stops. For more versatility, the Makita Plunge Base can be used with standard template guides from the industry.
Because I didn’t like the Makita 18 V cordless compact trim router, I bought this router base (small round base). When I use it, I don’t miss having a corded motor, and the fit and finish are great. They work well together. The feel is also good; it’s not shaky. 3hp monsters are too big for me. I like the small size a lot more than the 3hp one. Precision edge work and dados are now easy to do.
