This cutoff saw has a lot of power and can cut through a lot of different materials. On 3.5 inch square tube (1/4 in wall), it becomes a little sluggish. The flimsy base, which is stamped steel rather than good solid cast iron, is, I believe, the most disappointing aspect of the piece. Consequently, the saw vibrates wildly and does not cut as smoothly or as cleanly as my Ryobi. It is preferable to purchase one with a sturdy heavy-duty base because you will be more satisfied. Another issue with it is that the clamping system isn’t very smooth and could have been improved upon. In any case, it cuts metal, and so long as it does so without igniting, it isn’t a complete waste of money.
