The Manufacturer’s Statemen.

Makita’s new screwdrivers are the smallest and lightest on the market, according to the company. These scredrivers are the best for professional end-users because of their improved ergonomics and a number of unique features that distinguish them. In the course of our extensive market research, we have concentrated on three primary end-user requirements: Feel (weight, size, ergonomics), Performance (features such as nose cone depth adjustment and LED light), and Durability (how long will this tool last throughout the job, in terms of dollars and cents).

I just received it and tested it out. This is an excellent tool.

One annoyance was a 3″ by 1/2″ black plastic cylindrical anti-shoplifting tag that kept sliding up and down the power cord as it was being used. It is labeled as “Emtag” and serves no purpose in the operation of the tool itself.

According to the Emtag website, they are available in a variety of sizes and are designed to permanently lock onto power cords. Makita used a screwdriver on my screwdriver that was too large for the cord.

I used a Dremel to carefully cut shallow slots on opposite sides of the cylinder so that I could pry it apart from the rest of the structure. I suppose it would have been simpler to just tie the dang thing down near the plug with two tie-wraps, but I was impatient and didn’t think about it.
