People should do this because it’s the right thing to do. At the time I wrote this review, I had already sent back the first one and had it replaced. The replacement was also “useless,” but it was the same. A lot of what people said below was true. Now, after I saw a friend use the tool and it worked very well. When I tried it, I found it very different from the other tools I had used before. There isn’t anything I can see that makes these different from each other. They have the same model number, color, and appearance, and I can’t see any difference at all. One for me and one for my wife. Definitely worth it.

If you push the non-ergonomic safety release, the product starts. I haven’t found a lot of use for this device, though. To be honest, there are only a few things I can see myself using this item for. All of them can be done better with tools I already own. This looks like a high-quality Makita product, but it doesn’t have a lot of power or performance. It doesn’t even work with the very thin plastic packages that come with prescription medicines and other things. Even if you cut 1/4″ corrugated cardboard, even jams won’t be able to cut them. I just tried to open a new DeWalt worklight that came in sealed anti-theft plastic. This item had a very hard time, and I had to use a box knife and scissors to finish the job. This is the only Makita product I’ve bought (and I have a lot) that doesn’t seem to be very useful to me. They might be able to find a market for a cordless cutting tool with some power and maneuverability, but this is not it.
