I have an older model of this drill, and it has performed admirably in my hands. I abused it, and it is still functional, albeit not as well as it was when it was first purchased. I am certain that it was my own fault because I was using it for something that it should not have been used for in the first place. Originally, I used it to install hurricane panels on the roof of my home in Florida. I drilled all of the holes in the concrete block and then installed three-inch tapcons in each one of them. I used this to drill hundreds of holes and install screws, and it was as simple as it could possibly be. With the batteries from my previous drill and another Makita drill that uses the same batteries, I was relieved to not have to spend money on a useless case, charger, or additional batteries when all I really needed was another drill to complete my set of tools. However, this type of impact drill is extremely useful; it is not exactly the same as the traditional “hammers” but it accomplishes the same task.
