You can remove the lug nuts from your Silverado’s tires, rotate them, and make other repairs with this tool. I bought it to take on road trips in case I get a flat and need to fix it right away. Because this was so cheap, I thought I’d give it a try and see if it worked.
To be honest, I didn’t think it would work. To tighten the lug nuts on my Silverado, I use 140 ft. lbs, which is the amount of torque. That means this one can only hold 125 ft-lbs. I thought $60 was worth giving it a try. A great impact driver would still be there if it didn’t work. My 22mm impact socket, 1/2 in. socket adapter, and 4.0 ah battery were all ready to go. I put it on the lug nut and took a deep breath and thought, “This probably won’t work,” but it did. In just three short, two-second squeezes of the trigger, the lug nut was zipped out of the car. I was shocked. In case the other one was loose, I tried another. Same thing, then another. I thought I’d have to hold it really tight to fight it off, but it looked like it was made for it. This thing has a lot of power. With the impact, I even reinstalled them. I tightened them down with a torque wrench at 140 lbs. again to make sure this was happening, and sure enough, they came off in a jiffy. Incredible. This is a monster of a tool for cutting. I’m sure that if this impact can do that, there isn’t anything else it can’t do, too.
It’s a simple style driver. It doesn’t have a speed setting, but the variable speed trigger makes it easy to control. As with many Makita power tools, this one has a very comfortable grip and is very light and easy to use. As long as I had a bigger battery, I didn’t have to work very hard at all. So far, I’ve been very happy with Makita power tools. I’m very happy with the quality. This one, too, is made well. It has a strong metal housing, no chuck wobble, and nice rubber over molds. It’s a great tool.
It’s a good idea to buy this if you already use Makita tools. You can get it for a very low price. $60 is a great deal. Even if you make a difference, get it anyway. This could be your new favorite. It could be the best deal for an impact driver this good if you don’t already own one. Get this and a cheap Makita drill driver kit. You can use one of the batteries from the drill driver to do this job. It will still be a good deal.
