It doesn’t hold drill bits like the old brushed drill that caught fire. I’m going to try to change the chucks. At full power sometimes it will just stop. You have to let go of the trigger again and try again. Rare and you can’t make it again. When the variable speed is at a low speed, it’s not as easy to control as a brushed motor. No, I wouldn’t buy this again. I’d try something else. The cheaper chuck alone isn’t enough for me to make this a deal.

23July2. I don’t like this drill any more. On the old one, I was able to get the Jacobson chuck off with ease. I can’t get the crappy chuck off this drill to replace it. I now notice that the blue green plastic is a different color and isn’t as strong as before. I also see that on other Makitas, they have to add metal to it where they made it by injection molding it (Spiral saw same plastic). Still doesn’t move when you put too much torque on it. It’s hard to make a copy of it, but you can do it several times with your hands. The light also shines too far to the left and right for no reason and is right in your eyes if you’re at a 90-degree angle to it.
