With a 2.0Ah 18V Compact Lithium ion battery, you can keep going for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Redesigned the floor nozzle to make it easier to move and pick up debris.

At 18 to 3/4 inches long, this is a small and easy-to-use design.

Bangles’ two-stage cloth filtering system makes it easier to clean and faster to get rid of debris.

Having more storage space means that you can put off getting rid of waste for a longer period of time. The Kit style has a lot of storage space.

XLC02RB1W is a Makita 18V compact Lithium-Ion cordless vacuum with strong suction. It’s small and lightweight, but it has a lot of power for quick and easy cleaning. Having a length of only 18-3/4″, this small vacuum can be used as a “hand-vac” or with the floor nozzle extension to clean the floor, carpets, and other hard-to-reach places in your home. The XLC02RB1W is a set that comes with the 18V compact Lithium-Ion battery and the Rapid optimum charger. You can buy it as an add-on to Makita’s 18V Lithium-Ion Series, which is the world’s largest line of cordless tools powered by an 18V Lithium Ion slide-style battery. 18V lithium-ion batteries from Makita have the fastest charge times in their categories because they work more and don’t have to wait as long to be charged. For better tool performance and longer battery life, Makita came up with Star protection Computer controls. Star protection is a type of communication technology that allows a Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and keep an eye on things while they’re being used to make sure they don’t get too hot, get too full, or get too low. For more versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and small Lithium-Ion batteries that have the Star symbol on them. These batteries have Star protection inside.

With so many good reviews, I had high expectations. After I got it, I was a little disappointed. I need to think about whether it’s worth the price and other cordless vacuums on the market, like the Dyson sticks. I know that shopping this against the Dyson is like shopping VWs and Porsches at the same time. Most people, including myself, look at the Makita because they can’t justify the price difference between the Dyson models and the Makita models. It doesn’t matter how much something costs, but how much it costs to get value is very different from how much money you get for it. Each person will have their own criteria for what is good for them.

The pros and cons.

Pro.

2. Lightweight, with a good balance.

2. The suction is very good. I’m not sure why some people aren’t happy with the suction.

3. Easy to move around.

4. A removable and easy-to-find Lithium-Ion battery, which is found in many Makita tools.

5. It’s like a dust buster on steroids.

As long as you don’t lock the power button or trigger, it’s easy to use and it’s in a good place, so it doesn’t get in the way.

7. Quick recharge time.

The time was good.

It’s good for both tile and wood floors.

10. It isn’t too noisy.

Con.

1. The battery and charger make up more than half of the cost of this package (about $95 on AMZ as of this writing).

2. The battery alone costs $60, but with this battery, you may never need to change it.

3. The dust cup is too easy to open (just adjusting the floor tool in wrong direction will cause the cup to open.

4. Dust and dirt build up on the filter, which makes it more difficult to clean or empty. Vacs like the Dyson have cyclonic or wind tunnel action that sends the dirt to a collection area and not to the filter itself.

5. The tubes are small, so you can’t use tools from other vacuums to help you clean.

6. The floor attachment is also small and doesn’t move or have suction-powered beaters. If you think about the value of a Dyson, this could be a factor. This can only be used for carpets and rugs that aren’t very big.

7. There is no HEPA filter in this case (though there is a reviewer with a DIY mod.

Besides a crevice tool, there are no tools that can be used in the car.

It costs less to make plastic than it does to make other things.

There’s a lot of power in this battery charger. It’s the same kind that power tools use. It has a fan to keep the battery from getting too hot while it’s charging quickly. A “con” is hard to call because it and the battery are the most luxurious parts of the whole thing, and very much so.

Other idea.

You could buy the $80 tool-only model if you are already a fan of Makita tools and have other LXT tools and batteries. It’s also possible to get this and have a spare battery that can charge quickly, as well as this.

If you want to clean quickly and in small areas, you might want to use the Dyson battery-powered stick vacs.

4. This is by far the best battery/charger combo out of all of its peers.

In the end, I’ll keep it. For general cleaning and carpeting, my plug-in upright will still be the best choice. This one is better for quick, spot clean-ups and dust buster type jobs, though.

A new update was made on April 5, 2016.

After living with this vacuum for a few weeks, I find that I use it a lot. The light weight and small size make it very easy to use and not a big deal at all. My plug-in upright is feeling lonely. I’m leaving the rating at 4 stars because the dust cup is too easy to open and the dirt on the filter (#3 and #4 in the original review) still bother me.
