Breaking new ground, the 18V LXT® Brushless Cordless 12″ Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH14Z, tool only) has a maximum Torque of 1,250 in.lbs. and 0-31,500 BPM for faster hammer drilling into masonry materials. The tool is sold separately. The XPH14Z is at the top of the LXT driver-drills.

The XPH14Z is 14 percent smaller and more comfortable than the last model. It has a Makita brushless motor that gives it more power, speed, and run time. It also has a longer tool life. The XPH14Z has a 2-speed transmission that can do a lot of different things, like drill, fasten, and hammer drill things. Also, it has a 12” self-ratcheting chuck made of all metal, LED lights, and a rubberized soft grip for more comfort.

It’s part of Makita’s growing 18V LXT System, which is the world’s largest cordless tool system that runs on 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries and has more tools than any other brand. In their class, Makita® 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Batteries have the fastest charge times. This means that they spend more time working and less time on the charger.

For better tool performance and longer battery life, Makita came up with Star Protection Computer ControlsTM. Star Protection is a type of communication technology that allows a Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and keep an eye on things while they’re being used to make sure they don’t get too hot, get too full, or get too low. For more versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita® 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Batteries with the star symbol on the battery. This means that the battery has Star Protection inside.

The selector for drill and hammer drill doesn’t work right. It’s too free-form. It always seems to be in hammer mode. Getting your tools to work the way they should isn’t fun.
