For jobs where my Makita recip saw is too powerful, I’ve found this saw to be very useful. It’s great for things like cutting out door plates in framed walls, removing the old jamb when replacing a door unit, and making cuts for stair stringers and rafter birds’ mouths. The saw doesn’t have AV and orbital action, and it has a shorter stroke than my full-size saw. It wouldn’t be my first choice for heavy demolition. But when you’re working in a small space, above the ground, or in a job where you can’t or won’t be able to string a drop cord, it’s great. This is in line with Makita’s usual high standards, and I’m very happy.
