The review appears to be positive, and it appears that they are cutting aluminum cans because there is no way they are cutting anything heavy duty. I have a large collection of Makita tools, and this is by far the worst metal saw I have ever used. I attempted to cut a cutting edge for my small John Deere loader. It is approximately 6 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick. Using two 5.0 battery packs, I cut maybe an inch into it long way, because it is always easier to start with the thinner part and work your way through. After going through six new Makita 5.0-volt batteries (not generic ones), I was only half way through. I switched to my 4 1/2-inch Makita grinder with a cut-off wheel, and I was finished with half the battery left and finished in less than five minutes. This cut off saw has no power, and you are unable to use any significant force to cut with it. Then, when I was building my stairs, I used it to cut stair case posts, and it finally found its place in the world. 16 g metal cuts easily, but this is a poor, poor product if you expect to be cutting anything thicker than 1/16 inch in the near future. 1/4 inch angle iron is used in construction. Good luck with getting all of your batters lined up.
