This thing is a beast when it comes to driving 1/2-inch lag bolts into hardwood, and it saves a tremendous amount of time in the process. It drives 1/2-inch lags into hardwood in the same way that a regular impact driver drives deck screws into PT lumber. It is actually necessary to be cautious when driving shorter lag bolts so that the wood does not become stripped. I accidentally sheared the head off a 3/8″ lag bolt that I was attempting to remove after it had been temporarily set near a knot when the accident occurred.
