Approximately 7 years ago, I was introduced to this company at a lumber yard, where I was informed that they had been purchased by a Japanese company and that they were aiming to be the pneumatic gun leaders. I’m well aware that Japan, through Makita, is producing some of the best tools in the world, so this was an appealing proposition. Even though the smart point tips on the bostich/dewalt guns are fantastic, after my 16g straight bostitch refused to sink a nail into bread from day one, I finally had an excuse to switch brands, despite the fact that the press in safety tip was no longer in production. Even though I don’t have high expectations, and this gun sinks nails perfectly well, I must admit that the process is time-consuming and requires effort. Who has shot an old school hitachi, senco, or bostitch will understand what I mean when I say it’s a piece of cake. Nothing bounces back to the web of your hand, nothing bounces back to the nails in your hand, and that’s it. This gun fires the nails, but it doesn’t appear to be effective, as if it is trying too hard. An additional disappointment is that it is manufactured in Taiwan. While not a huge deal, I was hoping for a Japan-based manufacturer because my Hitachis, which are manufactured in Japan, are over 20 years old. When this gun is updated with a smart point tip and reduced recoil, I’ll buy it five times over and give it a perfect score of ten. They are by no means the market leaders in pneumatic tools until that time comes.
