I was well aware that when KKR purchased Metabo, the process of liquidating the company’s value would begin shortly after. Unfortunately, I should have purchased all of the Metabo tools I required prior to the company’s transition to KKR branded products. Sadly, only one or two high-quality tool manufacturers will be able to continue to produce tools for people who value higher-quality workmanship. It is preferable, in my opinion, to purchase tools that are manufactured by the company that markets them. Outsourcing to the lowest bidder serves only one purpose and, as a result, results in poor quality over time. Because this tool is manufactured in China, I would much rather purchase a branded tool from a Chinese company that places a high value on long-term relationships with their customers and understands (and employs) expertise in the manufacturing of increasingly complex equipment. In any case, I would like to benefit at the very least from lower manufacturing costs associated with different production locations other than KKR.
