The product receives five stars because it is a high-quality product in every way. These cordless tool batteries manage to outlast the equivalent-sized DeWalt and Makita batteries, which aren’t bad in their own right, as well as several other lower-priced brands. I don’t even bother bringing a charger to work with me because the batteries last far longer than the amount of time I need to use the tools during the course of the day. In recent years, Hitachi has acquired the trademark “Metabo” and has begun manufacturing Metabo-branded tools for distribution through major hardware retailers. However, these are not the tool products I am referring to in this article. They may be excellent, but I have not worked with any Hitachi products, with the exception of the pneumatic tools that are now known as Metabo, which were a fantastic pneumatic tool line. The Metabo, which is still manufactured in Germany in I believe one or two factories, is the product that I consider to be of superior quality to the rest of the competition. With four tools now, I can say that each one is excellent.
As a side note. Amazon had this for sale for a new price, which I paid, as well as a used price for one that had been opened but had all of the components still in place. I made the decision to purchase the unopened new tool, but when I received it, it was in a box that had been retaped, with the items not in the exact location they should have been. As far as I could tell, it was in excellent condition, with the manual and accessories all present and correct, so I decided to keep it. I wish I had been able to keep the discount for receiving the opened package label, which I believe was used for I believe $30 less than I paid. However, I would give Amazon 2 or at most 3 stars for slipping me the opened tool labeled used for the price of the new one for the price of the new one.
