I’ve worked with most major brands of grinders in my professional life as a fabricator, welder, and construction worker, but this was my first experience with a Metabo. This appears to be an excellent grinder. There’s a paddle on it that looks a lot like the old Bosch paddle before they changed their design. Until the new paddle design, Bosch grinders were among my favorite kitchen appliances. For me, the new Bosch design is extremely inconvenient when wearing welding gloves because it necessitates extra time spent fumbling around with it, which I dislike because I frequently use these in unusual positions, odd locations, and so on. If you have ever been bitten, you should purchase one of these. It has to be comfortable to turn on and off and simple to operate.

This one appeared to be the most similar to the old Bosch design, so I decided to give it a shot. Even though it’s a little more expensive, you get what you pay for.. Mine is labeled “Made in Germany,” the quality is excellent, and it appears to be a little quieter. (Not that noise is a concern when grinding on steel plate, but it is.). Because I am so impressed with this little grinder, I will most likely purchase another one of these as well as one of their larger grinders in the near future. I’ll report back after putting it through its paces for a couple of months of rigorous use, but the initial impression is positive.
