With the Mighty Mule app, a smart Wi-Fi wall station can control the lights and doors with buttons. It can also do a lot more when it’s used with the Android or iOS app. You can control, monitor, and schedule the lights and doors in your home from your smart phone.
When I “let the smoke out” of the old one, I bought this one instead. I unplugged and plugged it back in with the power on, forgetting about the backup battery. It’s important to remove all power sources before you change the wall control. Unplug the unit, and if you have a backup battery, remove it.
I also had a little bit of a problem getting the wall station to connect to my network. The process is a little slow, but it’s also important for the smart phone to be connected to the WiFi router. It was a repeater that gave me the best signal, not the router itself. There were a lot of times I couldn’t register or connect the device to the network. Once I went over to the main router and made sure my phone was communicating with it, the setup process went very smoothly and quickly, and it was done in no time.
For the wall unit itself, I give it five stars. The setup process took a long time, and I had a small problem with the smartphone app that I didn’t like. When the door icon is closed, the app shows a red circle around it. When it’s open, it shows a green circle. That makes no sense to me. As a warning when the door is open and a good sign when the door is closed, I’d like to see red when the door is open and green when the door is closed. To open, I have a different brand after-market remote opener. It has a red button that is open, and a green button that is closed. It just makes sense to me now.
