Ended up working better than I thought it would. You can use this to catch chips and sawdust that fall off when you make dados. Sawdust no longer falls off the router table. Als. Air from the red silicone cup helps keep the router cool by pulling hot air from the motor housing. This is especially important if your router has a spindle side that needs to be ventilated. This is the case with Dewalt’s Router EVS 2 1/4 HP, which has this feature. The cooling effect is very big, and it helps the router last a long time. The router used to get very hot when I used it at full speed and kept cutting, but now it doesn’t get hot at all, no matter how many cuts I make. You will have to change this item to fit your needs. My favorite thing was the red silicone dust cap. I thought that was the most important thing. You might be able to use that, and your own dust collection pipes might be able to help you. They sell just the dust collection cup on their site. If you use some imagination, a router can be a lot of fun to work with and a great way to keep the dust down in your home workshop. Don’t expect it to work like it says in the manual.
