Milwaukee 48-06-2871 Right Angle Drive Unit Attachment for Milwaukee Drills 0234-6 and 0244-1 (Only Compatible with Milwaukee Drills 0234-6 and 0244-1.

Put another way, if you already own a Milwaukee 0234 or 0244 model drill, or plan to purchase one in the future, and require an angle drill, this is an excellent way to have both drills while avoiding the expense of purchasing a separate angle drill.

It was necessary for me to call Milwaukee to confirm that my 20-year-old 0234-1 model drill would accept this attachment. They stated that as long as the model had the numbers 0234 or 0244 as the first four numbers, it would function correctly. You’ll notice that the 0234-6 and 0244-1 are the only ones listed in the product title. It is obvious that there are more models (represented by the hyphenated number) that would function similarly to my old 0234-1. While you could call them to double-check your model, they told me that the 0234 and 0244 numbers would work just fine. The fact that this is the same kit that comes preinstalled on a regular angle drill ensures that you will receive the same performance.

I’d never taken my chuck off before, but the instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. It took a lot of convincing to get mine to take it off because it hadn’t been taken off in 20 years. By flipping the angle gizmo over, you can choose between two different speeds. The ability to switch between angle and normal was a result of loosening up the muscles in my shoulders. It’s simple if you keep the allen wrenches close at hand.

When the drill is in the collar, it can be rotated so that the drill handle faces any direction in relation to the angle attachment/drill bit, depending on your preference. With one hand on the angle gearbox and one hand on the drill handle, you’ll be up and running in no time. You’ll want to make sure you still have your side handle so that you can screw it into the drill for better control on occasion if necessary. Given that you’re working with a Milwaukee, the drill’s amperage is more than sufficient to power this angle attachment.

This is an excellent option to consider if you want to save a lot of money.

21st of March, 201. Plumbing and electrical holes worth the cost of a new construction project have just been completed. Throughout the entire process, this angle drill kit remained securely attached to my old hole hawg. For all other drilling and driving tasks, Milwaukke M18 cordless drill/drivers, M18 1/4″ impact driver, and on occasion an impact drill were used, all from Milwaukke. The angle kit’s performance on my old drill is still flawless, and it’s a real wrist-tweaker, as is well known with Milwaukee magnums. In the event that you are only an occasional user, or if you have other drills and only want to temporarily convert your 0234 or 0244, this kit is the best option.

Perhaps if you already own a surplus of Milwaukee drills of the 0234 or 0244 models and want to permanently convert them to an angled configuration, this would be a cost-effective way to obtain a permanent angled drill.

UPDATE on March 26th, 2010. I’ve just received a price alert on this particular attachment. This kit is now available for as little as $75.00 shipped from an Amazon Merchant. That’s a significant savings.
