PRODUCT MAINTENANCEThe machine is extremely precise, and the speed at which it operates is extremely fast. If there is any fine sand or gravel in the air inlet, it may cause the impeller to break and the machine to fail if the iron filings get into the movement. Make sure the air inlet is clean. Always use a water-oil separator and drain the machine on a regular basis to ensure that it is completely dry, in order to maximize the machine’s life.

With its compact size, this orbital air sander is ideal for tight spaces. I take care of all of my family’s vehicles and keep an eye out for any rust that may be developing in the undercarriage. With the chemicals that are used in Ohio winters, it can be very difficult to keep a car running. I needed a tool small enough to fit in tight spaces under a vehicle and powerful enough to zip off a spot of rust quickly. So far, this one appears to be a good fit.
When working under the car, the adjustable speed comes in handy for dialing it back a notch. I’m able to customize it to whatever I’m doing. In the short video I uploaded, you can see that the speed can be adjusted. Because I didn’t bother to put a sanding pad on it before filming the video, you won’t see one on it in the final product.
It does not specify how much airflow should be provided. I simply set my compressor to 120psi and it performed flawlessly. It consumes a lot of air, just like all air sanders. I’m a do-it-yourselfer, and I have a standard 20-gallon compressor. It runs it fine. However, it also cycles quite a bit as well. Similarly, I’m experiencing the same problem with some other air hog tools I’ve acquired, such as a brake bleeder. But it works, so I’ll keep going, just taking breaks when it needs to catch up with the rest of me. That has nothing to do with this tool’s quality other than know what compressor you have so it’ll run it.
I recall reading on the listing that this tool could be used for wood sanding, which intrigued me. It’s not something I’d recommend using on wood. The air exhaust comes directly out the front and blows directly on whatever you’re working on at the time. Air tool oil is required by all air tools, and this one is no exception. It will spit out the oil onto whatever it is you are working on at the time. That is about the worst thing you can do to your project, in my opinion. I do woodworking as well. It will not take point or stain well, and it may even ruin the piece. It does spit much less, if at all, once you’ve oiled it and run it a bit. I guess if you want to take your chances then go for it. Personal preference dictates that I would use something else for the task at hand.
Overall, I am pleased with the tool. It’s a decent little air sander, especially considering the price.
