The new Snapper Shear SS204 fiber-cement siding shear has a precision-machined cutting head and a small 3/8” drive motor. After a lot of testing in the field, we’re happy to offer the SS204 as an alternative to our SnapperShear line of tools for contractors. As long as you have the same super-strong fiber cement blade, you’ll have the same amount of time and money with each dust-free cut.

I was a little wary of this thing because it looked very weird and awkward to me. I bought it because I don’t like cutting my Hardie Planks with carbide blades because of the health risks. Having a spinning blade in my hands while working from a stage wasn’t ideal.

This tool was worth the money for me. Looks don’t mean anything. Makes great cuts in the siding planks. It’s easy to use, and it makes great cuts in the siding plank. Make sure you cut your siding with the planks facing down (my siding was already painted). If you do this, the edge that it makes is very sharp. When you cut something with this tool, it only takes a few seconds and is very quiet.

How did I learn how to use it as a person who does not work in the carpentry field? It was very quick and easy to figure out. Cutting edges must be aligned with a speed square to make a straight cut. I used it to build the outside of my house, which is 45 feet wide by 45 feet long, with two stories and six dormers. The blades didn’t get any duller.

When the saw cuts, it wastes about a 1/4-inch strip of the plank. It gets messy under your feet after a while. To get rid of the dust that comes from traditional saw blades, I’d rather make a deal.
