My husband and I made a concrete counter top for our kitchen island so we could use it. Use this word to help students understand what a finishing trowel is used for and why it’s important to sand before using one. Using regular pads to sand, I started to work on the surface of the wood with my hands. LOL. About 1 minute and 10 pads worked. So I bought diamond pads to use. I like that it has a lot of different grits. I don’t know why it also came with a weird attachment thing that I don’t know what it does. I wish it had better directions for that part that I don’t know how to find.

So I used 50 grit to make sure the trowel marks and high levels were all the same size and looked good. I used both wet and dry. A huge mess was made (I was anticipating this). Then I went up to 100 and 200, then back down to 100. I went up to 200, 400, 800, and 1600. A lot of the surface was not smooth. I used it dry because I could get the aggregate (sand) out of the way with a broom to try and get a smoother surface. Sort of. I’m just mad that even at one of the highest grits, I couldn’t get the thing smooth. This is a picture of how the wood looked before and after sanding.

As for the guide, I’d like it to come with a better one. It does look like it will last for a while, though.
