The Porter-Cable PCCK602L2 20v L-ion drill and impact driver are powerful and work well. They are also easy to use. In the past, I’ve used an 18v Bosch drill and driver that used Ni-Cad batteries. They are much lighter than the Bosch tools. The L-ion batteries are also much lighter than the Bosch tools. You don’t have to work as hard when you use this for a long time.
The L-ion batteries that come with the PC are only 1.5 A-H, but the Ni-Cad batteries I use with the Bosch are 4.0 A-H. This is part of the reason why the PC’s batteries are lighter. When you use smaller batteries, they run out a lot faster than when you use 4.0 A-H batteries. There are many examples of when I used both tools to install decking with stainless screws that were 3 inches long. The PC driver sank 150 screws, then stopped. The Bosch built 436.
There are replacement L-ion batteries for the PC that can be bought on Amazon that have a capacity of 4.0 A-H. I might buy them when the batteries that came with the kit start to run out.
A lot of people have used the Bosch tools for 15 years, and it’s possible that their weight is due to them being better made and last longer. Time will tell on that. If I use the PC tools for a week, it’s too soon to tell how long they’ll last. When I have more experience with them, I will write a review.
