Our 20V MAX* cordless jig saw comes with three orbital settings so you can choose the best way to cut your wood. Cut aggressiveness can be changed quickly in many different situations. You can control the speed of the blade with the variable-speed trigger. This lets you make clean and precise cuts. The built-in dust blower removes debris so you can see better. With the tool-free blade release, you can quickly change out the blade without having to use a tool. As a bonus, the contoured overmolded handle makes it easier to grip.
After buying all of the Porter-Cable 20v MAX lithium tools, I’ve used them for everything from very difficult tasks to very simple ones, which means I’ve used them well past their intended run times and overall stress tolerances on a regular basis. I now feel I can make a fair review, based on how well they worked over the course of about a year.
One of my favorite tools is the Porter Cable 20V MAX PCC650 Jig saw. I’ve used it hundreds of times over the course of the few years I’ve owned the tool. With its price, it’s hard to believe how well-built the tool is. The handle is very comfortable, like all of the Porter Cable 20V MAX tools. It feels very much like the PCC640 or PCC600 Impact or Drill, except that it is laid down 90 degrees instead.
In the Jig saw, there is a 3 mode Oscillation feature that lets you choose how fast the saw cuts, how clean it is, or how slow it is. This is all dependent on the type and quality of blades you are using (uses T shank blades). With the allen wrench that comes with the saw, you can easily loosen the hex head fastener and adjust the angle in any way you want. You can store the wrench in the saw. You can also quickly bring the saw back to a 90-degree cut with a positive lock slot.
The trigger on this and all of the variable speed tools in the line is just the right mix of sensitive and responsive. If you want to go at full speed, you can fully press the trigger. If you want to go at a slower speed, you can press the trigger a little. You can use a Jigsaw to do a lot of different things, like cut very thin material, or cut light steel. I used it for 20 minutes straight, and the saw didn’t once say “no..
So, if you think about the fact that the tool is used more “constantly” than a drill or something like that, it does very well with battery life. You’ll think that it eats through it, but that’s because it keeps going when you cut. I have solved this problem by only using one of my 4.0 amph battery packs in this saw. If you use a smaller battery, you can get by. Even the smallest 1.2 amp battery would work.
Even though it costs a lot of money, the Porter Cable PCC650 20V MAX Jigsaw is a very good tool. If you have already bought other tools in the line, or even if you just need a cordless saw, I would highly recommend this tool.
