There are a lot of sawzalls out there, but I’m not an expert. I’ve used a dewalt 20v sawzall and a Milwaukee Super Sawzall, which is plugged in. After all, I already own two other PC tools that I like very much. I was a little nervous about this purchase. When I used both of these saws, I had great experiences with both of them, but I couldn’t justify the price of either. Dewalt tools aren’t as appealing as they used to be because there are better, cheaper tools out there. Mil saws are great, but a sawzall isn’t something I use every day, so it’s not worth the extra money.

I was surprised by how well the PC tool worked out, and I thought it was great. It’s small enough to use with one hand, but strong enough to cut through almost anything without hesitation. There were about 30 or so branches that were 1-3 inches in diameter when I took it out for the first time. It never slowed down or got stuck, and the battery lasted for about two and a half hours with no sign of draining or overheating. The shorter cutting length means that it doesn’t cut as quickly as some of the other saws, and you can’t turn the chuck like on the dewalt, so you lose some flexibility. But the weight savings and ease of use make up for it.

The design is, of course, a little childish. It looks like a transformer, but it turns out to be very thoughtful. In the right places, there’s a lot of rubber that doesn’t leave marks. There’s even a small hole in the top for you to use when you can’t reach something. As long as you don’t need the Mil’s hard-core build quality, this is a great way to go.
