Our 4-1/2-inch Small Angle Grinder/Cut-Off Tool is made for hard work. It has a small, lightweight platform that can do a lot of different things. Whether you’re a builder, a welder, a fabricator, or a mason who needs a tool for grinding metal, polishing, and tuck-pointing, this tool is perfect. Grinders that weigh just 4.1 pounds have a motor that can reach 11,000 RPM. In order to keep it cool, the gear housing is made out of cast metal. In addition to a three-position handle for comfort and control, it also has a paddle switch that automatically turns off if it’s dropped, making it easy to use. It’s becoming more common for job sites to use a traditional grinder with a cutting guard to cut metal. This grinder tool has both a grinding guard and a cutting guard, so it can be used for both tasks. In order to control the path of the sparks, the two guards don’t need any tools and can be quickly moved. This increases productivity and safety on the jobsite. A side handle, a grinding wheel, a cut-off wheel, and a wrench are also available.

I have a lot of 4 1/2″ grinders because they are so useful on the job site. Because these tools are now so cheap, I don’t have to take time out to change the grinding disc, cutting disc, wire brush, or flap disc. I just get a bunch of them and put different accessories on them, and I can just grab what I need based on which disc is on it. The Porter-Cable works well and has enough power to do any job, no matter how big or small. All of my other grinders have the side handle sticking out at 90 degrees, but the Porter-handle Cable’s is bent up a little, about 15 or 20 degrees. This isn’t a deal breaker, but it is different when you switch back and forth between different machines. Also, the handle is a little weird-shaped. It’s not that I don’t like the shape of the handle, but where the paddle switch is makes me a little unhappy. There is a slight indentation in the handle to make room for the last few fingers of your strong hand. The paddle switch is high, close to the grinding wheel, so you have to stretch your first finger up there to activate the paddle because the safety lockout is up high near the top of the paddle. Makes it a little difficult to hold on to, so they should move the paddle down. Even though the price can’t be argued with for this kind of quality, I went and bought a few more.. of the 6 amp model:. They have the side locking switch instead of the paddle. The side handle looks like it’s at a more normal 90 degrees to the body instead of the slightly bent handle.
