I am a woodworker both as a hobby and for a short time as a job. I have a lot of experience with tools because I work with wood. First of all, this is the first Oscillating Multi Tool I have ever had. I bought it because I’m remodeling my bathroom and I’ve found a few places where traditional tools won’t work very well, or at all.
When the weekend is over, I’ll let you know what I think. So far, this has been a disaster. Starting with two stars, but as I wrote down the pros and cons, I realized that it didn’t work well for most of the tasks I bought it to do. So I changed it to one star and gave it a bad review. I thought this would be good for cutting nails between 2x4s. Nails and screws were not possible even though the blade was made of metal. It also quickly wore down the blade, so it didn’t help at all. I also needed it to cut about an inch wide through a 2×4 that had PEX water plumbing running through the middle of it. So, it seemed like the best thing to do. It would let me get close without hitting the water pipe. Another time, it didn’t work. Maybe the first half of the year “of depth was fine, but after that, it slowed down so much that it couldn’t move. I tried to cut my way through, but I couldn’t. In this soft 2/4, I was only cutting 1 note. Keep this in mind “The cut is wide. I also tried to cut 1 1/2 inches “The PVC was so hot that it melted it because it was so close to the flames. The tool was again used in a place where other tools would not work or fit. It looked like the answer.

A 2×4 failed to cut a single cut. I was trying to make a 1″ wide cut to go all the way through the 1 1/2” 2×4. I couldn’t get through, so I had to use hand tools for each place where plumbing was near.
-I didn’t cut a nail that was in the frame. Remove a stud from an existing wall. I wanted to cut the nail at the point where the stud meets an existing wall. When it didn’t work, I used other tools to cut it out and grind it down with a grinder.
If you try to cut a typical drywall screw under a tile counter, you won’t be able to do it. So, I had to come up with another way to show off.
In the end, I couldn’t cut PVC well enough. When I tried to melt it, I had to use another tool to clean it up.
– Failed to cut half “A piece of wood. Again, during the demolition, I had to take down the cabinets and sinks. Inside the cabinet, I tried to cut around the plumbing so that I could pull the cabinet out without having to remove the plumbing connections. It cut very slowly and with a lot of work. It’s clear that it would have taken a long time. This is why I had to get my grinder. It took me 5 minutes to get it cut. I even went back and tried to cut the material that was between the pipe and where I cut with the grinder. 1″ wide and 1/2” deep, it still wouldn’t go through.
With gloves, the tool still gets hot. Not bad if you don’t use it for long.
-There is a lot of vibration at high speeds. Fine for small niche needs, but I can’t even think of using the sanding tool on it.
There should be some kind of grip on the tool head.
-seems to slow down for a lot of these uses to the point that it seems pointless at all. Let the blade do its job. Because this tool cuts by oscillation, you have to put some pressure on it. Putting too little pressure and not cutting it, or putting too much pressure and making it slow down. At some point, it gets stuck and either doesn’t cut anything or stops.
Sad: I’ve thought about getting one of these osculating tools for a long time, but I couldn’t justify the cost until now because I was remodeling my house. But the more I write, the more I think I’ll just throw it away. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why people love it so much. I’m not a novice when it comes to power tools. I understand that there are some limitations and that one should be reasonable, but this didn’t do any of the things that made me want to buy it. As far as I can tell, this tool should work well for the job. I have many other tools that I can use to help me, like dremels and routers. If you want to cut drywall, you don’t need to buy a special tool. As for cutting door trim, I still need to use it. We’ll see if that works. My guess is not good.
I can’t figure out what to do. It gets a lot of good reviews for this.
