Buy PM-DS CNC Dust Shoe by Powermatic

Flexible collection hose can be connected to four ports.

Bristles that can be remove.

Adapter for connecting to a dust collecto.

When the machine is connected to a dust collector, the dust shoe ensures that the work surface remains clean while the machine is in operation.

I purchased this to be used with a CNC Router Parts (now Avid CNC) Benchtop Standard kit and a DeWalt DW618 router body. It is a perfect fit for the router. Originally, I intended to make my own, but after calculating the cost of the materials and deciding that I wanted just to get to work (and avoid having to stand there holding the vacuum hose), I decided to look for an existing solution. 4 times in a row “In order to connect my Dustopper separator, I purchased a 2.5″ adapter from PowerTec (see link below) and 2.5″ PVC hose (see link below) from Fulton (see link below). The Dustopper separator has a 2.5″ adapter and 2.5” PVC hose (see link below). The adapter does not have a tight fit in the suction side of the dust shoe (it is 1/16 inch in diameter) “In order to make it more secure and prevent the hose from pulling out of the shoe when it plunges to its lowest point, I first shimmied it with some cardboard to make the seal tighter. In order to close the gap, I 3D printed an ABS adapter ring that now fits perfectly snug. It has a flange, which allows it to maintain the vacuum seal under normal circumstances, but any upward or sideways force will cause it to dislodge the vacuum seal. The ability to simply lift the adapter out of the dust shoe to vacuum up any remaining debris on the table was appealing at first, but I’ve come to appreciate having it stay in place for the time being for now. In addition, the double row of brushes is one of my favorites.

I believe the dust shoe could benefit from one or two additional magnets to keep the lower brush body in place, but so far I haven’t had any issues with the lower brush body coming loose and it appears to be fairly secure. While inspecting the underside, I noticed some dust accumulating in the corners, so make sure none of it gets trapped between the magnets when you reattach it, and everything should be fine. A hot glue gun and a couple of rare earth magnets, on the other hand, will allow you to customize how well it stays in place.
