Since I bought it 15 years ago, I have used the same industrial orbital sander. It was a 3m that can’t be bought now. It was made of metal and was meant to be used for a long time. Over $300 back then. All good things must come to an end, and this one finally did. I don’t do as much work as I used to. Plus, I’m on a fixed income and can’t spend that much money right now.
This is what I bought, but I was a little nervous about how good it was. It came in a package that is very likely not made in the United States. For hook and loop, I bought a sticky pad. I don’t like them, so I didn’t.
I’ve already put about 15 hours of hard work into it, and I have to say, I’m very pleased. There isn’t a lot of noise or vibration. If I keep using the sander for a long time, the air compressor, which has an 80-gallon tank and a 7-horsepower motor, keeps going off and on. It runs very much like my old, very expensive 3m.
It fits well in the palm of the hand, it will run even if you put a lot of pressure on it, and it just works better than I thought it would. It is used to sand down paint, bondo, and fiberglass, as well as basic body work.
I don’t use wood, so I couldn’t rate it for that. If you’re going to spend money, this sander is worth the money. I think it’s a good quality, long lasting sander.
