With the Pro-Series 4.5-Inch Angle Grinder, you can clean out mortar joints while tuckpointing, smooth rough edges, and level surfaces without damaging them. In addition to being ideal for use in your home workshop, this 11,000 RPM single speed Angle Grinder is also powerful enough to be used in a more commercial setting for metal working and construction. Various other wheel types can be used for buffing, polishing, sanding, and the removal of rust and paint with the 5/8-inch arbor. Even while wearing gloves, a trigger power button with a lock on feature is simple to operate and maintain. The grip can be used with either the right or left hand because it is fully adjustable. Due to the inclusion of a grinding wheel, the Angle Grinder is ready to be used right out of the box.

I recently purchased this grinder to use for concrete crack prep work, chasing cracks, and other related tasks. I plan to use both the grinding wheel that came with it as well as a twisted wire wheel to remove previous latex-based repair material. It’s not exactly a powerhouse, drawing only 4 amps, but it appears to function properly. As soon as the housing was used for about 5 minutes in nearly continuous operation under light to moderate pressure to clean out cracks, the plastic and metal parts of the housing began to become quite warm. After another 5 minutes, the plastic housing became unbearably hot to the touch, even with leather work gloves on, and the metal portion became even hotter, with light smoke emanating from the motor vents. I was unable to continue working. I dialed the 800 number that was included in the package and was connected immediately to a very friendly associate at Buffalo Tools who appears to be willing to work with me on this issue. They offered to send me new brushes, but I already have a spare set that came with the grinder, so I’ll just put them in and report back here. Assuming the overheating problem is resolved, I would give this grinder a solid 5 stars (given the price) for what I am doing with it. If this does not resolve the issue, I will request a replacement unit and update this post.

Please keep in mind that the “Metal 5-Inch Dust Shroud for Grinders / Concrete Grinding Diamond Cup Wheels” product does not fit this unit due to the fact that the collar on the grinder is too small for it. The product description states “Max. collar size 1-13/16″, please double-check before purchasing,” but it does not specify what the minimum collar size should be.
