This three-step polishing system lets you buff your woodturning projects right on your lathe by mounting the #2 Morse Taper mandrel in the headstock of your lathe.
Includes a mandrel, three 8-inch fabric buffing wheels (Linen, Linen/Flannel Combo, and Flannel), three buffing bars (Tripoli, White Diamond, and Carnuba Wax), a hardware package, and a set of directions and tips.
To use this, you need a lathe with at least 1/2 horsepower and a heavy-duty live tailstock center.
Pre-treat your work piece with danish oil to get the best results.

It’s a great three-step buffing system. You can make your wax finish look great and last a long time with this unique lathe polishing system. You start with a Tripoli buff (linen wheel), then a White Diamond buff (linen or flax wheel), then Carnauba wax (flannel wheel). There are a lot of layers of lacquer in the end, but the finish is softer and deeper. There are three 8-inch fabric buffing wheels in this set, as well as two Tripoli bars, a White Diamond bar, and one Carnauba Wax bar. The mandrel that holds the three buffing wheels is called the mandrel. The 14″ polishing mandrel is held in place by a live center in the tailstock and driven by a # 2 MT in the headstock spindle, so it can be used for a long time. The system needs a lathe with at least 1/2 HP. It’s a good idea to apply Danish Oil to the final piece before you finish it.
As other people have said, the end of the morse tapered end isn’t completely smooth. A threaded rod has had a morse taper made on one end, leaving a small amount of thread.
When I used this tool for about 6 months and installed and removed most of the machine end from the headstock on my lathe, I saw no visible signs of any damage from this tool. Also, I’ve learned that softly inserting the taper into the head stock makes it much easier to remove. The taper is made very carefully, and it fits perfectly without having to be very forceful when you put it in.
I think this is a good product for people who use common sense when they use it.
