This sander was designed to be a replacement for an earlier model of the same name. I really like the sander, but the advertisement on Amazon was really bad. When I went to the Ridgid website, the statement that the lifetime warranty they offered was only available if the sander had been purchased from an authorized dealer was buried on a page I would (and wouldn’t) go to. THIS DEALER, ON THE OTHER HAND, WAS NOT. I had NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT WAS GOING ON. MY ERROR.
