It has more cutting capacity, which makes it good for small to medium-sized projects. It also has a bigger 1/2 HP motor. This is how the motor works: It has a 1/2 HP, 5.5Amp, 110V (60Hz), and 1720RPM. The blades can move at 1515 or 3280 ft/min.

The new and better 10″ Bandsaw 10-3061 is a replacement for the old 10-306 model. This bandsaw has a lot of features that make it very easy to use and make changes to the blade, guides, and fence. There is more cutting capacity, two blade speeds, and a bigger 1/2 HP motor on this bandsaw. It’s good for small projects and woodworkers who don’t have much space for a bigger bandsaw. Two blade speeds, tool-free blade guides, quick-release blade tension lever, tilting table, adjustable fence, larger blade tension knob, dust port for shop vacuum, side windows for blade tracking settings, storage hanger for fence and tools, and safety paddle on/off switch. This makes it easier to move or store when it’s not in use. A rip fence is included. Steel stands are sold separately. Redesigned: This model has a new 2-1/2″ Dust Port that has been moved up from the base and tilted up 10°, making it easier for dust fittings to attach to it. It also now has a new 2-1/2″ Dust Port. The Door Hinges have been changed to make them more durable so that they don’t break. Fence Carrier now has 4 more plastic inserts in case the fence needs to be tilted. The Rip Fence comes with a plastic pad on one end to make it easier for the fence to slide across the ground. The lower bandsaw frame has been made better so that the Lower Connecting Plate and Guide Assembly can be put in the right place. Screws in the lower connecting plate have been changed so that hex wrenches can be used more easily if the plate needs to be adjusted. When the upper bandsaw frame and guide assembly were tweaked, they were made to make sure that the maximum cutting height could always be 5″.
It was time to get rid of my old Ridgid bandsaw. I thought I’d try this one from Rikon. I liked that it was small and could be used on a bench top without needing a stand. I was very impressed when I saw that it was almost ready to go, with a blade already attached. How long did it take to build everything that wasn’t already built? It took me about 15-20 minutes to finish.
It was the main thing I wanted to do. I wanted to re-saw a piece of walnut that was about 4 inches thick. For re-sawing, I bought a new blade. The one that came with the saw isn’t very good. Sadly, even with the new blade, this saw was still bogged down all the time. I’d cut 2-3 inches, then the machine would stop. I’d pull the piece back, and it would (usually) start again, and I’d do it again. Re-sawing a board that was 8 feet long was very hard to do. I don’t know if this one was broken or if it was just underpowered.
Also, they say it can handle stock up to 5″ thick. Even with the guide post turned all the way up, it only reached about 4 7/8″ before the blade guides blocked it.
Good thing this saw was so well-thought-out, though. For minutes, the blade can be changed. There isn’t much dust left after the dust collector works. For someone who likes to make jigsaw puzzles or something else, this would be perfect. That’s why it doesn’t look like it can do any kind of re-sawing at this point.
