The length of 5 1/2” was the deciding factor in my decision to purchase this item. Unfortunately, it turns out that the head constitutes a significant portion of that, and as a result, the tool rest post is too short to be compatible with my Powermatic 4224.
The tool rest appears to be a cast product, similar to the Powermatic tool rest, in the photograph. Now that I look at it, the tool rest has a shape that is very similar to the Robust tool rest.
In any case, do not order it for use with the Powermatic machine.
