It’s a powerful little circular saw.

The Rockwell VersaCut has the power of a big, bulky, and heavy circular saw in a small, well-balanced, and light design. Professional-looking results can be achieved by cutting wood, plastic, ceramic tile, metal, and more with Laserguide technology that shows a precise cutting line. It also has a small size that allows you to get into places that regular circular saws can’t reach.

It’s easy to get professional results with just one hand.

The VersaCut, which has a 4-amp motor, is great for professionals and people who do a lot of DIY work. Users can make perfect rip cuts and plunge cuts with help from Laserguide technology that makes sure they don’t have to measure a cut twice (saving time and money). Having a dust extraction adapter that keeps the cut line clean of dust even more improves the visibility of the cutting lin. And unlike most saws, the VersaCut can cut through materials that are more than 1 inch thick.

To cut a hole in plywood in my basement, I used this saw to get it vertical, which would have been too heavy and dangerous with an actual circular saw. I’ve had this saw for years. Yesterday, I threw it away. Violently and with a show. After cutting a piece of 11/16″ pre-finished Russian birch for the first time, the blade started to bend toward the fence that I had clamped to the work piece. I had to stop the saw, move the fence, and change my project design a little. When I tried to plunge cut back into the original cut line, the saw kicked back out of my hand and sped across my shop. I’ve been a woodworker for twenty years, and I haven’t seen anything like it in that time. Think about what this could have done in your house.

Another thing I’ll say is that the red safety switch is a bad idea. It’s built into the main switch, so it’s not very good at what it’s supposed to do, which is keep you from accidentally activating the tool. But the main problem with this design is that you can’t plunge the saw without sliding the safety switch, which means that if you’re trying to line up the cut, which anyone who has used a plunge tool of any kind can attest is very important. So you have one finger holding the little red switch and almost pushing the main switch, and then you have your other fingers pulling up the metal shoe around the blade, which is very small, which is very dangerous.

You also have to let go of half of your grip if you have a problem with the saw while it is running in order to let go of the switch, which is big and covers at least two or three fingers. There’s no other way to get in. That’s how mine came to be fifteen feet away from the work.

It was time to finish that job, so I used my trusty Rigid Circular Saw. If that saw goes back, it’s going to knock over my work bench before it even thinks about going out of my hands.
