Buy Precise Router Depth Adjustment with Router Raizer RZ100

ROUTERS/MACHINE is not in this list.

Router Raizer makes it easy to set the depth of a router for both hand-held and table-top use.

Set your router to the approximate depth and then make very small adjustments.

Makes height changes quickly and easily with the knob that has knurled edges.

With the Speed Wrench, too.

Craftsman, DEWALT, Elu, Freud, Hitachi, Makita, Porter-Cable, and Ryobi routers can use this tool.

An overview of what this item is abou.

a router lift made by this compan.

If you don’t have a router table, hold it by hand. With the help of your speed wrench, you can quickly and easily change the height of your router table from above. The Router RaiZer attaches to any router table and works with your speed wrench. Alternatively, you can make changes to the speed with the knurled knob that also works with the speed wrench. Plus, the quick adjust feature lets you set your router to the approximate depth and then fine-tune it. These routers will work with this part: Craftsman 27505 and later models; 27506 and later models; 27510 and later models; 27511; 27512; 27513; and 27514; 27515 and later models; 27516 and later models; and 27517 and later models.

Amazing how much money router lifts cost, often more than the router itself. When I bought my Hitachi M12V, the Router Raizer was recommended and I installed it. It’s a cheap alternative that works well. Read on to find out how I set up and used the Router Raizer.

THE BETWEEN THE GOOD AND BAD.

SMOOTH LIFT OPERATION: After the lift was installed, the operation was smooth and there was no hysteresis. In other words, the up and down adjustments were very repeatable. When I used the hand crank, I was able to get a very accurate and repeatable height that I could always get.

The speed wrench turns about 1/16″ per turn, so the lift has a fine height resolution that makes it easy to make small changes.

But not all of them are perfect. Pull only the pages your router needs. This is written in the directions. This kit is for a lot of different routers, but it has a lot of extra parts that you don’t need. That with so many different steps, it’s easy to make a mistake if you don’t first get rid of the other routers and parts.

When I used the router in the table, I took out one spring to make it easier to adjust from below. Keep the springs in place. This means that with the Router Raizer, you can leave both springs in place. When you use the Raizer, it takes a little more power to raise then lower. Some people might still want to remove a spring, though.

ON A 1/4″ TABLE PLATE: — WILL WOR. The plate needs to be changed so that the Raizer’s protrusion doesn’t get in the way of the router’s surface and so that the allen wrench can be reached. There is very little room for the dust cover on a 1/4″ thick piece of metal. People say that 3/8″ thick wood is needed for this project. Countersink a 3/4″ hole about 1/8″ deep on the bottom of the table plate to make it clear for the Raiser part that goes on the router face to fit and be flush with the table plate. A 1/2″-wide hole is drilled for the Raizer’s allen head adjuster. My aluminum 1/4″ plate was too thick for the 3/4″ recess and the top surface of the plate to clear. Because the disk was too big, I sanded it to make it smaller, so it didn’t poke above the table surface and didn’t get in the way of work. This disc dust cover is unnecessary and should not be used, so I’ll talk about that more in the review.

There was no email or text contact, but when I called, they were very cooperative and helpful. They quickly sent out some missing parts and gave me other helpful advice. Robert, the person who helped me, even gave me his cell phone number in case I had problems with the installation after their office closed.

THE WORST.

Parts aren’t there. I suggest that you look very carefully at the parts. In the kit I got, I found that four parts were missing or were missing in parts. I called them and they were very quick to send me the missing parts.

Instructables were old and parts didn’t match drawings. I found this out when I tried to follow them. For example, there are instructions to use two wrenches to tighten the part that holds the shaft together. But one of the parts no longer has a hex shape so that you can use a wrench. Instead, it has a slot for a screwdriver. Different slot parts can be seen in this picture, as well as this hex part. A flat-blade screwdriver can be used to hold the other end of the nut while a wrench is used to tighten the other end of the nut. People told me the hex part had been replaced with the slotted part, so I called them.

A knob used to tighten the shaft would get in the way or rub against the body of the router when you turned the adjust. I replaced the knob with a small allen screw that came with the kit. I thought it was for another router, but it worked. At the bottom of the shaft, another thing was a knob (opposite the table adjust). This knob lets you change the height of the bit. When you turn the table allen, it would hit the router body. This knob is only used if the router is being used by hand. Since I never use it that way, I just took it out.

– LOOSE DUST COVER IS A QUESTION. I have a thinner 1/4″ table insert, and the small 3/8″ diameter disk that goes over the allen adjust on the top of the table is loose in its place in the recess (see picture). There is no room for the insert that was given. The Raizer allen wrench is on the left, just above the mounting screw. There are a lot of things that I don’t like about having loose parts on the table when the router is running. The disk could fall out of the 1/2″ hole and get in the way of the work, or worse, get stuck in the spinning bit. Clearly, the cover shakes around in the recess, and it will no doubt come out of its recess at some point. With a lot of dust, there are no worries. A good dust collection system means that I don’t need a cover on my table because I don’t need to keep the dust out. Wood dust never got inside the cover after many tests. As long as I turned off the dust collector, I didn’t have a problem with dust getting into the allen head even then. Because I don’t want to risk an issue with the work or getting caught in the bit, I won’t use the cover.

It was updated on November 1, 2019. In order to make another table, I bought a second Router Raiser. The package had all the small parts in a small sealed bag inside a bigger bag, unlike the first one I got. The first one had all the parts together in a bigger bag. On the first order, I got a returned order that wasn’t properly checked before it was sold again. To make sure everything is safe, make sure your parts aren’t in another sealed bag.

If you don’t have any problems with missing parts or interference, the lift worked great in my table. After deciding that the dust cover is not needed, the lift worked great. There were some problems with the Router Raiser, but even with them, I still think of it as a 5 star item. I think the Router Raizer is great. Even if you’re not sure how to do it, the instructions are good and the support is great.
