It’s possible to control the CNC router without having to connect it to a computer. The SainSmart offline controller module lets you do this. The CNC router can be put in any place you want, such as your garage or workshop.

Manual Control: The location of the XYZ Axis can be moved by hand to start the engraving. This module also lets you control the spindle’s open or closed mode by hand.

Once you put the file on the SD card, the engraving field can be used right away. Connect the offline module to your computer with a micro USB cable, and then store the file there instead.

All you have to do is connect the offline module to your GRBL board. Then you can control your CNC router with this module.

For driving the machining process, the feedback is limited, but it’s still useful. If there’s a problem with the file, there doesn’t seem to be any way to figure out what’s wrong.

Because you could have both this and a computer attached, you could use this for positioning, and the computer to drive it.

UNIX-based programs don’t like files that have lines separated only by line feed characters, which is why it doesn’t like them. It wants a carriage return and a line feed, which is what Windows programs usually do, but it doesn’t. It didn’t say anything when it tried to open a line-feed-only file. It seemed like it had to be unplugged to get it to work again.
