Please do not purchase this item if you have read negative reviews and are still considering doing so because you think it might be worth trying because you do not have a lathe and it is not expensive to purchase. Because turning wood vertically is not a good idea, even if it were of high quality, it would be pointless to purchase this piece of junk. Instead, purchase a mini lathe, which is much more cost effective. I could go into more detail, but take my advice: I did exactly what you were thinking about doing, and I am very sorry about it now.
