Oh, and make sure your tools are sharp and that you are using the correct tools for the job. This is an excellent lathe.
I gave it a two-star rating for “for beginners. You must set up the stock correctly, as well as the tool rest and the speed. Having said that, there are some people out there who are savants, which is why it received 2 stars instead of 1 because of this. If you are not careful, however, you can sustain serious injuries, and it is absolutely necessary to wear a dust mask and goggles when turning. I use a fullface 3m 7800 mask, which I absolutely adore.
