This 11-amp variable speed disc sander/polisher can be used for a variety of tasks including sanding metallic surfaces, prepping metallic and wooden surfaces prior to painting, removing paint and rust, finishing woodwork, making flush joints in wooden plates, finishing and polishing metallic surfaces such as motor vehicles, refrigerators, elevators, and other similar items, polishing lacquered surfaces on wooden products, and polishing synthetic resin and ebonite products.
Overall, the machine appears to be of high quality, and it is definitely more powerful and lighter than the Makita, as well as significantly lighter than other polishers such as the Milwaukee 5460 (which hopefully will be as sturdy and durable as this Milwaukee). The only issue I have with it is the start, which is anything but smooth; it goes from zero to approximately 7/800rpms as soon as the trigger is first pressed, then it drops to 600 (within a second), resulting in a brief but abrupt jolt every time the trigger is first pressed.. The machine’s gears should loosen up with use, so hopefully this will be corrected with time. As a result, when I tested them out of the box, I noticed no difference between them and the machine I had originally purchased..
General performance is excellent; my only complaint is that at the start of every polishing cycle there’s a significant amount of whatever is between the polishing pad and the surface being worked on.. polishing compound, water, polishing powders or whatever.. there’s always a significant amount of splatter!
