In other words, the rubber sanding pad they provide you with is nothing more than a metal nut enclosed in a rubber housing, and my grinder ate right through it almost immediately (I sanded for about 10 minutes before it let go). I ordered an aluminum one to replace the plastic one, which should be more durable.

The sanding pads appear to be of high quality; I am currently refinishing slate slabs for use as a kitchen table and a coffee table base. The 10 minutes I got out of it seemed reasonable, but I was only able to use the lowest grit pad available at the time.

Speaking of pads, they don’t stick to the provided sanding pad very well, and I quickly discovered (after being pegged with flying diamond discs a couple of times) that I need to maintain significant down-force on the tool as it rotates, and it is this down-force that is responsible for the burned through rubbed sleeve.

So, three stars because the pads perform admirably in terms of actual sanding, but only one star because of the product’s lack of durability.
