This is the best circular saw I have ever used, and I have used a lot of them.
Some time ago, I looked for a full-sized, full-featured right-blade 7-1/4 “The sidewinder.
I used to be a professional carpenter, and I have always preferred B&D Sawcats, the similar DeWalt models, Makitas, and better-quality Skils over the other types of saws I have used.
I have other cordless saws of different sizes, but except for a small 12v Makita, they are all left-blade saws.
I think they’re best for cutting sheets of paper.
I have two Skil wormdrives that I’ve used a lot when I’ve been framing with the West Coast method.
Most of my work was done on the East Coast, so I used right-blade sidewinders like this.
If you want to cut things quickly, this saw is the best for you. It has the fastest rotational speed I’ve ever used, which is great for cutting things with thin kerf blades.
This saw was perfectly aligned and set up when it arrived.
I like the instant blade brake, the led light that makes it easy to see where you’re cutting, the balance, and, of course, the lack of a cord.
I remember having a lot of trouble with cords when I was younger.
I remember a few times when I almost got hurt when I used old saws without brakes.
I would have loved to have a saw like this 15 to 50 years ago.
In the picture, there is no rafter hook.
The one I got has a great flip-out rafter hook.
It’s the cherry on top!
…What a great saw!
